I had the pleasure of collaborating with Quyntess to revamp their innovative product, Q-Card, a virtual B2B payment card with authorization capabilities. The goal was to modernize the user interface and enhance its usability by leveraging native phone functionalities, transforming it into a sleek, user-friendly app that meets the contemporary standards of mobile applications.

Project Challenges

Q-Card was developed to address several pain points faced by businesses:

  1. Complex Expense Management: Companies struggled with managing and tracking online business purchases, often leading to inefficiencies and errors.
  2. Shared Corporate Cards: The traditional method of sharing physical corporate cards among employees was prone to fraud and complicated reconciliation processes.
  3. Time-Consuming Approvals: The approval and reconciliation process for business expenses was cumbersome, often requiring significant manual intervention.

Design Approach

Understanding these challenges, my design approach for Q-Card focused on three main areas:

  1. Visual Refresh: The existing interface was outdated and did not reflect the modern, efficient service Q-Card offered. I redesigned the visual elements to create a contemporary look and feel, ensuring that the design was clean, intuitive, and visually appealing.
  2. User Experience Optimization: By adopting native phone functionalities, I streamlined the user journey, making it easier for users to request and manage virtual cards. The new design ensured that the app was not only aesthetically pleasing but also highly functional and easy to navigate.
  3. Enhanced Usability: I focused on making the app more user-friendly by simplifying the process of creating purchase requests, approving transactions, and tracking expenses. This included optimizing the workflow to minimize the number of steps required to complete tasks and incorporating features like real-time notifications and automatic transaction recording.

Key Features of the Redesigned Q-Card App

  1. Simple Purchase Request Process:
    • Employees can easily submit requests for online purchases via a streamlined workflow.
    • Requests are automatically forwarded to the responsible team for approval through the Approval App.
  2. Immediate Card Activation:
    • Once approved, employees receive instant notifications and can use the virtual card directly from their mobile wallet.
    • Proof of order is added automatically, reducing administrative tasks.
  3. Comprehensive Transaction Tracking:
    • All transactions are centralized and integrated with the company’s financial systems.
    • The app provides real-time visibility and detailed reports on all expenses, enhancing control and transparency.

Impact and Results

The redesign of Q-Card resulted in significant improvements:

  • Increased Efficiency: The new interface reduced the time required for employees to request and receive approval for purchases, making the process much faster and more efficient.
  • Enhanced User Satisfaction: Users found the new design intuitive and easy to use, leading to higher adoption rates and positive feedback.
  • Improved Financial Control: With real-time tracking and detailed reporting, companies gained better control over their expenses, reducing instances of fraud and improving budget management.

Conclusion

The Q-Card project showcases my ability to transform a functional but outdated app into a modern, user-friendly solution that meets the needs of today’s businesses. By focusing on visual appeal, usability, and leveraging native phone functionalities, I helped Quyntess deliver a product that not only solves key business problems but also provides an exceptional user experience.
